It’s been quite a while since I posted one of these! Here’s what has been played on my iPod this week..

Remember when you were young and you had all those crushes on actors, musicians, the guy at the gas station who sold you smokes even though he knew you were only 14? I was a metal head.. my life revolved around concert performances and Head bangers Ball. While all my friends were worshiping “New Kids On The Block“… I wanted to marry Michael Lardie (guitar & keyboard from Great White, the really short blonde guy). When Motley Crue & Skid Row came into my life, my nights from then on were filled with lustful, 3 way, crude dreams of Sebastian Bach and Vince Neal. (I have seen the porn, it wasn’t quite what I had imagined.. so lets not go there!) Now, I guess a young girl having a strange affinity for dudes that wear more make up than I do wasn’t all that strange, especially for that time… and my life ambition at that time was to grow up to be Lita Ford or Joan Jett.. and all my friends were lusting after Axel Rose (what is so sexy about him!?!?!?) which was ok, because I was lusting after Duff.
Every now in then, one of those songs comes on the radio and the butt-rocker (aka. glam metal) in me still wants to tease my hair, stick my boobs out, and wear leather low riders.. but then I remember that I am almost 30, don’t have the body I used to, and remember how desperate I thought ‘old ladies’ rocking out to the bands I loved looked/were.. then I shape up and move on… but damn I miss those old times.. hanging out at a friends house, partying with the girls.. but I don’t miss the colds from standing in the rain for concerts, moody musician boyfriends, and men more vain than myself.
Every now and then it occurs to me how much Sergey and I have in common (hobbies, goals, dreams, etc) except music. While we both like heavy, gothic, dark, black, metal that is where similarities end. He likes bands like Qntal, Deine Lakaien, and Mediæval Bæbes.. while I rock out to bands like Rob Zombie, Cannibal Corpse, and any butt rock band of the moment.. the only group we can agree on is Das Ich. Car rides are fun because one trip I will play mostly his music where I suffer, the next mine where he suffers.. but the thought occurred to me.. even though I rock out to music my dad listens to (The Doors, Bob Seger, Nazareth, Free, etc) there is some music he listens to that I just cant stand.. (Buck Owens, Jethro Tull, Simon and Garfunkel) I used to call it “old foggie music”… then the thought came that some day my kids will be calling Motley Crue “old foggie music”.. and damn if THAT don’t put some things into perspective!
