wow! it’s monday already?!

Posted by Nina on Sep 25, 2006

This weekend was very… interesting. We drove to grandma’s on Friday as we had planned but got in very late (sometime around 2am).. Saturday morning we woke up early and went shopping. We hit the Mac counter first and I bought Zoom Lash mascara in black, some tinted moisturizer in NC20 and a finishing powder in medium-dark.. that was quite a shock considering that I am very pale! I also bought the following shadows Shroom, Parfait Amour, Beauty Marked, Electric Eel, & Deep Truth. We then went clothes shopping and I picked up 2 tops and 2 necklaces. After shopping we went to pick up dad and we went to Friday’s for dinner. Dad looked pretty good that day.. he looked really thin, pale, and tired but he had just gotten out of the hospital so I suppose that to be expected. He had gotten sick again on Friday which is why we didn’t stop there and see him earlier.. he was resting and we didn’t want to disturb him.

On Sunday Sergey and I spent the entire day at the Renaissance Festival. We plan to go back this weekend for the closing. I didn’t dress up on Sunday but I do plan to this weekend… and piecing my costume back together has NOT been easy! Some how my black chemise has been misplaced and without it, I bust out and have no sleeves.. so I have to replace it. Lucky for me, I found a shop that will rush ship me one to replace it which should arrive here before Friday afternoon. Sergey isn’t going in costume this year (party pooper!) but I plan to force talk him into it next year. Bella goes in tomorrow to have 2 baby teeth pulled and a dental cleaning.. I can’t help it, I am a nervous wreck. I know its not a big deal but the thought of her being in any discomfort really breaks my heart.

I ♥ Cost Plus / World Market

Posted by Nina on Aug 2, 2006

Sergey and I went to World Market on a whim on Sunday to buy a print to hang above our bed, and while we were there.. we found that 2 of the cabinets we wanted for our living room were on sale! So we bought them both! They are being delivered today. There are only a couple pieces we are lacking.. Sergey wants a wine consol for the dining room and I would like a large mirror to hang above our sofa. Other than that, our living room is complete.

On a happier note, our shithole neighbors above us finally moved out!! You have no idea how happy this makes us!! They have been gone for 2 days and the whole world is at peace! Bella has a grooming appointment so we are on our way there now.. 6am is too hearly for me!

letter to my husband

Posted by Nina on Jul 18, 2006

Dear Husband,

I know that our anniversary is coming up and since we have been married for 1 official year .. this becomes the paper anniversary. I know that you must be wondering what in the world could you buy me that I would both need, love, and use that is paper. Well, knowing me as well as you do books probably came to mind.. but then you probably saw a cookbook written by Curtis and quickly changed your mind.. well I have the solution for you! Tivo. We are like the only two people in the world who doesn’t have one. Yes — I know you prefer that digital media storage thing.. but we don’t have that either.

You are probably thinking right now “how does Tivo qualify as paper?” well.. it totally does. I have no idea how to work the damn thing, so I would have to spend an eternity reading the tivo directions. So you see, it all works out perfectly. And I know you claim you don’t watch tv when we all secretly know you’d never miss Emeril, you could use it to record your favorite cartoon (Avatar: The Last Air Bender) on Nickelodeon.. and don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone that you will tivo cartoons and cooking shows.

To save you the trouble of trying to figure out which ones I would like.. I have made a list for you. Feel free to pick the one you like better as I like them equally the same.

Tivo 1
Tivo 2

Love,
Your Wife.

foodies & stability balls

Posted by Nina on Jul 18, 2006

For a long time I thought these weird little balls were just some stupid advertising gimmick.. but the more I work out, the more I do yoga and pilates, and the more I use The Firm, I am thinking I should give one a try to support my back during crunches. My current work out schedule is Monday-Friday, 4 days of The Firm, and 2 days additional elliptical work.. the occasional yoga and pilates thrown into the mix just to avoid repetition. I’d really like to involve more ab work but laying on the mat on the floor is just too damn hard. I end up having to spend a half an hour on the heating pad after doing floor ab work. I don’t know if its because of the injury I had when I was younger or the type of floor I am working on, but I definitely think I need to try something new. As much as I am working out you’d think I would look as good as Denise Austin does in the pic above but I still look like a pudgy soccer mom.. not even a MILF*.. go figure.

We didn’t really do a whole lot this weekend.. We went to this gourmet market down the street from us and picked up some cheese, brownie mix, sugar-free Kahlua syrup (for me), and he got truffles.. the mascarpone cheese we bought was horrible.. neither of us liked it.. I ended up trying out this lentils recipe and it would have been great if we didn’t add the olives.. so I spend more time picking them out of mine than I do eating it.. we picked up some vegetarian hamburgers and corn dogs for me and Sergey bought some more nutella (that neither of us can stay out of!).. you know you’re totally a foodie when the high point of your weekend revolves around your grocery shopping!

(*MILF = mom I’d like to fuck)

productive weekend

Posted by Nina on Jul 10, 2006

So, I gotta tell you my cold stone story because I’m married now and have no life so all I can do is laugh at my stupid mistakes.. so anyway… we convince grandma to go to cold stone with us, first time any of us have ever been there but we got a coupon (yes, I said coupon!) for $5 off so we decided to go.. so we’re standing there for like a fucking year because the line wraps all the way down the block and back… finally we get up there and she says “what size would you like?” and I must have looked dumb founded… I answer “uhm…… well….. I…….. uhm….. whatever size most people order… (medium she says) medium I guess.. (thinking small is kids size)” she smiles and says what would you like? “Germanchökolätekäke please”…. lady comes up to grandma and asks what she wants and grandma looks at me all sheepishly… and I say “same as me.. Germanchökolätekäke but she wants small waffle cup instead of the medium” so we move on down while they continue singing and making the ice cream on this cold marble slab (hence the name)… finally they hand me mine and my eyes bulge out of my head and I turn to Sergey screaming “I DONT KNOW IF I CAN EAT ALL THIS!!! omg!!!” never in my life have I ever had TOO much ice cream…. so he pays.. ($16 fucking dollars for 3 of us and two of them got small!!) we go outside to eat and I’m munching on mine and suddenly about 5 bites in I’m saying “eww I can’t eat anymore!!” I didn’t even make a dent in that mountain of ice cream (a medium is seriously as big as your head!!!)… so we took it home and froze it in the freezer.. grandma couldn’t finish her small.. I came away thinking… DAMN! if medium is what everyone else orders.. no fucking wonder America is so fat!! next time I’m getting the kids size with a baby spoon!

So anyway, that pretty much was my weekend.. except the whole Ikea experience which I’m not sure you care to hear about my burning bladder and needing to pee but can’t and then getting my UTI back but now its gone so I’m ok again.
